Terry Pratchetts article explains the everyday struggle with an illness that cannot be
cured. He goes through the beginning of his illness to the end of his life. With a rare case of
Alzheimers disease, it can be hard to do a lot of things. Terrys article informs us about
assisted death. This is where a person makes the decision to keep living their life the way they
have always lived it, or to go ahead and accept their fate and give up their fight. He also
expresses that assisted suicide is beautiful rather than cruel. I agree with Terry. It is quite
miraculous to finally have no more pain and suffering. That person is released from the grips of
any illness such as Alzheimers Disease.

According to the article from the American Journal of Bioethics, the Dutch debate on euthanasia
for Dementia patients says that EAS (euthanasia and physician assisted suicide) is illegal with

the exception of only a physician doing the procedure while following all the rules to a tee. This
debate has continued for a long time. It was concluded that the request for assisted suicide are
almost non existent. Older people want to feel in charge of their life. They dont want to feel
threatened by a disease. They think that they can continue to take care of themselves when in all
reality, independence and understanding of certain things are going to no longer be a part of their
everyday routine.

Services Professions." Journal Of Loss & Trauma 18.6 (2013): 539-555. Professional

John Westefeld explains in his article the definition of assisted death by having the

patient administered a lethal injection for a peaceful death. This is the most human way to put
someone out of their misery. This article informs us that some states are considering the
legalization of Physician Assisted Death due to the growing elderly population. It also says that
people who have a family member that has been affected by a terminal illness are affected by it
as well as the patient. When you have to constantly see someone you love in constant pain and
suffering, the best decision at that point would be Euthanasia.
