7. Al Qemma Expectations

Maximize Instructional
Time
A Print Rich Environment
Appropriate students

Adhere to the school

Communication System

7a. All Al Qemma staff are expected to maximize instructional time:


Teachers are expected to engage students instructionally throughout the day, period by period.
Teachers and staff are expected to supervise students at all time.
Teachers are expected to ensure that the students have a pass whenever they leave the classroom.
Teachers are expected to use positive discipline strategies such as [but not limited to] one-to-one
conferencing, direct eye contact, change seat assignment, and other positive techniques [i.e.
marble jar, golden time, teachers chair].
Teacher are to refrain from placing students in the hall as a discipline strategy.
Teacher and staff are expected to use proper referral process when sending students to the
Principal, Vice Principals, Social Worker, Head of Faculties [See behavior management strategy
p.].
Teachers and staff are expected to treat children with dignity and respect.
Instruction is expected to begin immediately at 7:15 am [boys] and 8:15am [girls] to maximize
quality learning time for students.
