1. STEEL
Steel is one of the most sustainable building materials in the world. It is
durable, safe, strong and could last from hundreds to over a thousand of
year if it had been preserved well with zinc coating. Steel is strong enough to
not susceptible to rot, termites, or mold.
Steel structures require less material (both reduced weight and reduced
volume) to carry the same loads as concrete or masonry or wood structures
which can help to reduce down the cost needed for a project.

Steel is dimensionally stable: it will not warp, split, or creep - making it


durable and built to last.

The other important feature of steel is its flexibility. It can bend without
cracking, which is another great advantage, as a steel building can flex when
it is pushed to one side by say, wind, or an earthquake.
The usage of steel in the chosen structure is on the supporting part which the
Old KL Rail station using large steel frames as the train shed to support the
load of the building, especially load from the roof.
