Discourse community ethnography

The discourse community ethnography was the very first assignment we had to undertake as
student in the RWS1301 class. Mrs. Bossie gave us plenty of assistance with the assignment as
she does with all of her assignments. However, I still felt that the assignment was at a level that
should be apparent around mid-semester since the class is an intro class and if students even
remotely had education similar to min then their level of writing has not been challenged that far
and therefore the assignment itself can be a little intimidating to the student who dreads writing.
This is not to say I didnt appreciate the assignment as a concept itself, on the contrary I found
the ethnography to be a very good concept and I feel that it most certainly has a place in the
community that is Rws 1301. However, as I said before I just think the timing point of the
assignment. But then again what do I know Im just a humble student offering his meager
opinion on the structure of a scholarly class. As for what I myself feel I did well ,I honestly can
say I do not feel I can honestly say that I performed terribly on the subject. So therefore I guess
you could say I was good at performing terribly on this assignment. Now as for what I did poorly
I can say with confidence that I didnt do a good job at thoroughly reading the examples
provided to me that would have allowed me to synthesize what I needed to do to achieve success
on this particular assignment. On top of that my punctuality was horrible as I turned the
assignment in late, also I failed to clearly express my ideas in the ethnography which made hard
to understand me at times. So without a doubt I can say I performed terribly on this assignment.
However, I feel this assignment was helpful in that way because I performed terribly I didnt get
complacent as I often have in high school when the assignments were extremely easy at times.
So above all this assignment served as a wakeup call that helped me focus and evolve as a
student.
