COMPLAINTS ON UNFAIR AND EXORBITANT BILLING BY EKEDP
The above subject refers:
I write on behalf of the landlord of No. 11 Joseph Harrison, Iwaya, Yaba, Lagos as the
current tenant responsible for settling EKEDP bill to complain about the unfair and
exorbitant billing by EKEDP since December 2015. While it is understandable that
there has been increase in the tariff of electricity since February 2016, the continued
gross over estimation of unit consumed monthly which has been incremental as
follows: Consumption in Nov 2015 (551kwh), Dec 2015 (606kwh), Jan 2016 (732kwh),
Feb 2016 (805kwh) & Mar 2016 (893kwh) is unfair. This increment in consumption is
against the epileptic supply which characterized your service delivery in Iwaya since
last year. You will recall that during the period I captured here, there are months we
only had light for 5 minutes out of 24hours after several days of total blackout. In
some cases we are without light for 2 weeks.
I am confused at this continued unfair and excess billing since the past 3 months and
wish to express my displeasure on this matter resulting in accumulated debts which
we do not owe on the meter account astronomically. This is more surprising because
there has been no noticeable improved service from what obtains in the past; you
have consistently estimated and reviewed our consumption upward. I should state
firmly that we are good citizens and have fulfilled our obligations to your organization
since moving into the apartment as our past records shows. It is also important to
inform you that we have a working meter and have complained severally on why an
estimated bill which is prone to human errors and manipulations by dubious staff is
being served.
I kindly request your urgent attention and assistance on this matter to forestall
avoidable and unjustifiable debt accumulation on the meter account. Attached are
copies of the bills for the month of November, December, January, February, March
and April for your consideration.
Below are the details of the meter

billing to avert any situation that may result in the disconnection of the meter at the
earliest.
