MEMORANDUM

TO:

MICHAEL GABBOLA

FROM:

ERICA FRENCH

SUBJECT: PROMOTION
DATE:

SEPTEMBER 4, 2016

During our last semiannual review on April 4, 2016, you informed me that I was eligible for
advancement to level GS-12 field service technician, upon completion of my two year
probationary period and department head approval. Due to my exemplary performance as a level
GS 11 field service technician I would like to submit my application for promotion immediately in
advance of the completion of my probationary period on September 15 th.
My performance as a field service technician the past five years, three as a member of the US
Navy and the two as a federal employee, far exceed my current position. I provide exemplary
leadership and direction for US Navy, Civil Service, and contractor teams during field service
events. I have continuously proven my professionalism and dedication to the success of the
maintenance team with a customer satisfaction score of 97%; the highest in our department. My
direct technical and logistical services to Fleet and Type Commanders is an important component
of maintenance training, installation, operation and readiness of shipboard Aegis Weapon
System. I regularly act as a liaison with Division Officers, Department Heads, and Commanding
Officers during inspections and technical assists. I provide a controlled effort and response to unit
mission critical Casualty reports (CASREPS), by offering symptom analysis, risk assessment and
logistical support to assist ships force in taking corrective action. My position is critical to the
continued excellence of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) brand.
As the company continues its focus on higher education, I would like to highlight my work towards
an electrical engineering degree. This degree develops my skills as a field technician and
diversifies skill set within the company. I will complete my associates in spring 2017 and have
been accepted to Old Dominion University to continue my degree. My dedication to my education
will only benefit our company as the department of defense explores the latest and greatest
technology.
As my division head, your recommendation is pivotal to the department heads decision to grant
the promotion. I believe my work within the office is meets and exceeds the GS 12 requirements.
If however, you believe that more personal and professional development is required, I would like
to request a meeting to address these issues in order to become a greater asset to MARMC.
Thank you for reading this and for your consideration in the promotion.
