Genre Pitch
Focus: I think the most important thing I learned from this inquiry, and what I
hope others who might be interested will take away from it, is that there is
no one set path to a career in international relations. There are so many
different types of careers and ways to get there, you just need to take the
time to decide what you want out of it and what works best for you.
I chose this focus because international relations is such a broad field and it
is easy to feel overwhelmed and daunted, but finding something you are
passionate about doesn't have to be so complicated.

Purpose: My purpose would be to inform and I guess more specifically to

advise and maybe educate others on all of their options. With the current
state of global affairs, I can only hope that the field continues to experience
rapid growth. Therefore, my inquiry would hopefully be useful to many other
students like myself who are considering a career in international relations
but dont know where to start.

Audience: My intended audience for my genre project will be students similar

to myself. They would most likely be undergraduate college students

majoring in subjects such as political science, international studies, or even

international relations itself. More specifically they would be considering
attending an international relations graduate program, and definitely be
interested in pursuing a globally minded career in any number of sectors.
Other than sharing an interest in the specific field (therefore having prior
knowledge) and most likely being college students (and therefore in their
late teens to early twenties), there are not really any specific demographics.

Possible Genres:
1. A video explaining my findings
2. Maybe a web page or blog post with an overview of my findings and
links to other resources that Ive found
