PROGRAM OF STUDY OUTCOMES

Students will identify specific parts of the in sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rock process.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson students will be able to:
1. Identify the different parts of the process in forming sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT

SMART board
Class set of computers
www.kahoot.it

PREPARATION AND LOGISTICAL CONSIDERATIONS

Ensure that the SMART board is cooperating that day for it is necessary for the entire lesson. If it is
not working have students work on dance mat typing (something they usually do on Mondays but
the lessons can be switched around)
Have the name of the site written on the board to be sure that all students will be able to type it in
themselves. Help the students that are having trouble with this task.

PROCEDURE
Introduction

Ask students what types of rocks they remember.


Ask students how each rock is formed? (use this to set students up for success for
answering questions on the quiz)
Let students know they will begin by playing a fun game that incorporates all the
science they have learnt.

1) Have the computer helpers stand at the front


and help hand out computers.
2) Have students go to www.kahoot.it
3) Show students the code that they have to type
in. And read it aloud.
4) Tell students to make a thumbs up when they
are done.
5) Read the question and answers aloud so that
the lower reading level children can understand
what is being asked.

Thank everyone for their hard work and ask students to begin
putting away their laptops.

Assessment

Students will be formatively assessed based on the amount of answers the


class answers correctly. This will help me understand which parts of the rock
process were not explained as well as others.
