Holzinger, Brigitte. "Lucid Dreaming Dreams of Clarity." Contemporary Hypnosis 26.4

(2009): 216-24. Web. 20 Oct. 2016.
This journal discusses the progression of knowledge and research of lucid dreaming, defines and
describes lucid dreaming in many differing aspects, providing a well-rounded and thorough
source of research information. It describes astral projection and a process of how to self-induce
lucid dreaming willingly and consciously, supporting my idea that lucid dreaming is a learnable
technique. It explicitly states that accessing the unconscious mind can increase personal growth
which supports my idea that lucid dreaming can lead to expanding minds and deeper
understanding of self. This site provides thorough, credible, and honest research on a wide range
of topics surrounding lucid dreaming.

This article went over the fundamentals of dream interpretation. It stated that there are no
meanings of dreams set in stone - the meaning of a dream is dependent solely on the dreamer. It
states that dreaming is essential with regard to personal development and evolution as a

metaphysical being. Dream dictionaries are not credible sources because dreams can only be
interpreted in the context of the dreamers self-discovery. It states that dreams provide
communication with the conscious and subconscious mind. It provides a step by step process on
how to accurately interpret dreams. The article will help me better articulate that dreaming
provides a deeper discovery of self since only the dreamer can interpret the true meaning of his
or her own dreams, the ideas of this article is supported by the sources listed above as well. This
source helps me to persuade my audience to explore the idea of self discovery in lucid dreaming.
Tuccillo, Dylan, Jared Zeizel, and Thomas Peisel. A Field Guide to Lucid Dreaming: Mastering
the Art of Oneironautics. New York: Workman, 2013. Print.
A Field Guide to Lucid Dreaming provides thorough step by step instructions on how to train the
mind in order to lucid dream. It provides many different methods, like some mentioned in the
Lucid Dreaming - Dreams of Clarity proving consistency and reliable information. It delves
deep into the dream world, preparing the reader for different settings and scenarios and
techniques to stay lucid. This will aid me in explaining just how to lucid dream, which will help
me simplify the process of lucid dreaming. It provides ways the journey can positively affect the
state of mind, such as facing fears, feeling prepared for everyday life, problem solving, and
transcendence, or spiritual growth. These accounts of lucid dreaming will help me reason with
my readers on the benefits of lucid dreaming that may directly affect them.

This article provides thoughts, reasons, and outcomes of lucid dreaming. It suggests that the 9
reasons stated in the article will ultimately better the person, and gives personal experiences as to
how. It includes universal values such as freedom, knowledge, the concept of reality, and the
progression of the human race. This will give more reasons for readers to tune into the topic of
lucid dreaming, and directly answers the research question presented: Whats the point of lucid
dreaming?

The article focuses on benefits of lucid dreaming. Conducted research shows that lucid dreaming
goes hand in hand with various health related improvements, such as positive influence of mental
health, greater sense of self control, and improved problem solving skills - though studies are not
certain if this is due to intelligence or cognitive skills. Studies also arent sure what exactly
causes these improvements, however, lucid dreamers all tested positive to support the claims
listed. Research shows that gamma waves can be used in order to induce lucid dreaming. Gamma
activity is known to cause abstract thinking and decision making. The article also states that lucid
dreaming produces gamma waves. This article will help me illustrate that lucid dreaming cannot
only be used for self-discovery, but self-improvement mentally. The findings in this article are
parallel to ones stated in another source.
