Emma started her journey in 2014 as a Level 1 Business Administration student and quickly secured a placement with Parkview natural desire to learn resulted in Emma moving onto her Level 2 in Business Adminis- tration with ease. Students from Impact Training recently had the opportunity to undertake a project in the community by painting the inside of the 77th West Belfast Scout Hall, on the West Circular Road. Joinery students worked hard from start to complete the project and to ensure that the hall was finished to a high standard. When Taylor first joined Impact he was a very laidback, reserved student. His progression over the last 2 years has been massive. He has achieved all his targeted Vocational, Employability, Personal Social Skills and Essential Skills Qualifications. Taylor started placement with Brian Barrett and due to the hard work and determination shown, he has been offered full ime employment. Joinery Tutor Gordon Stewart said, “Taylor has come a long way since first joining Impact. Initially a reserved student but with attending placement and personal development classes, he is now more confident in himself and his ability.” Taylor will leave Impact Training in August more confident, qualified and jy ——— employed. Well done Taylor and good luck in your future =a career! Taylor Cahoon with owner Brian Barett Mark Adair joined the Engineering section in September 2014. From the very beginning, his eagerness to learn and develop his engineering skills was evident. Within a short time of starting at Impact, Mark's determination to progress, saw him successfully secure a work placement with local employer ACE Auto Fix. Mark made an immediate impression with his commitment, excellent attendance, attitude and willingness to fit in and become part of the team. While at Impact on day release, Mark achieved Level 1 Performing Engineering Operations, Level 2 Diploma in Engineering & Technology and all targeted Essential Skills qualifications. In addition Mark achieved Level 1 Awards in Personal and Social Skills and Employability Skills. Mark's achievements and hard work have now been recognised with Andy Taylor, ACE Auto Fix, offering a full-time job at the end of his training. We congratulate Mark on his achievements, employment and wish him every success in his future career! Childcare students Nicole Bell and Taylor Trotter started Impact Training in September 2014. Both girls have made huge a progress during their time at Impact by achieving all targeted qualifications and impressing in their placements. Nicole has been with Careers 'N Kids from May 2015 and Taylor has been with Small Wonders Daycare, since November 2014. Both girls have proved that they are reliable and hard working and as a result, they have been offered a Level 3 Apprenticeship with their placements. External defibrillators are medical devices that diagnose life-threatening, abnormal heart rhythms, or cardiac arrhythmia, and treat them, by delivering electrical energy to the heart to restore its normal rhythm. They are used in emergency situations on patients who have collapsed due to sudden cardiac arrest. When Used in the first few minutes, following collapse, these devices can often save lives. After a cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR and defibrillation, reduces someone's chance of survival by 10 percent. Dennis Murray, General Manager said, “We continually strive to create a safe and happy learning environment for our students. However, it is also important to ensure students and staff are cared for in the rare event that they suffer a cardiac arrest. | am delighted we have a valuable life-saving piece of equipment at our centre which can also be used by the local |§ ‘community in the case of an emergency.” Impact Training worked in partnership with British Red Cross who delivered first aid training to the staff. Impact would like to thank all the leamers who raised funds by taking part in a sponsored 5k walk up Black Mountain and businesses who contributed to this worthy eae Impact students raised funds towards the dibnitator Retail students from Impact Training recently took part in a residential with Belfast Activity Centre in Ardaluin House Newcastle. They were exceptionally lucky with the recent good weather and the first activity was wet bouldering at the Bloody Bridge which was thoroughly enjoyed by all who took part, especially plunging into the rock pools further up the river! That evening the group took part in a blindfolded night walk, to further build group cohesiveness, promoting communication skills in order to navigate round unfamiliar terrain. The final day brought them to Castlewellen Forest Park to try the maze and also enjoy a brisk walk through the forest. During the residential, the learners all | helped prepare delicious meals with many learning how to prepare food they had never made before! Well done to alll #Changing Lives, Building Futures.
