State Standards:

6.2.1 play with correct posture, characteristic tone quality,


accurate tuning and intonation, good breath support, proper

bowing, and correct hand position.


6.2.2 play one-octave major scales in keys appropriate to each
instrument.

National Standards

Performing on instruments alone and with others a varied

repertoire of music.
Listening to, analyzing, and describing music

Objectives:

Students will
o Play the melody with proper dynamics and articulations

Materials:

Trumpet

Procedure:
1. Have the students listen to the teacher singing the rhythm and
pitches found in the song and have them echo.
a. The first time do as written in the music (with Slurs)
b. The second time without slurs
i. Ask the students which flowed more evenly. Lets

Have the students echo the melody on solfege
The teacher will model the solfege on their instrument
Have the students apply the solfege to their instruments
Ask the students where slurs can be found in their music and
then play the entire song.
a. If time, to play again make sure dynamics are played
properly
b. If time, Have the students point out who has the melody
and where

Assessment will be informal and completed while the teacher


listens to the students perform the song.

Work on phrasing and bringing out the melody lines
