Animal Behavior Reflection
I found this assignment for my biology lab class significantly more difficult than all
the other ones Ive done because of the requirements. My instructor was very vague
with what she was looking for in our response, which wasnt as structured as Id like my
rubric to be. The prompt stated to write a thoughtful essay about an animal after
observing their behaviors and apply my observations to what I had learned in class
about animal behaviors.
Writing about the behavior of my toy poodle dog was difficult because it was very
much so out of my comfort zone. I didnt fully understand what we had learned in class
about animal behaviors so I did have to do some research of my own on the subject at
hand. I dont think this writing was at all even close to my best piece of writing by far. My
strategy for writing this was going through my notes and bullet by bullet explaining how
it related to my findings. I would say it was very unorganized and pretty vague to say the
least.
This essay helped my writing even though it was all that spectacular. It pushed
me to really focus on my work and informed me that there will be assignments that I
dont fully understand the prompt to, but Ive got to do the best with what I have. I
learned that I perform better when the prompt is clearly explained to me using as many
details as possible. Even though I didnt perform to the best of my ability on this

assignment, I got an opportunity to critique myself and improve myself for next time and
that is very vital.
