Rhetoric of Typography
I think the Rhetoric of Typography article was interesting. The article
talked about how typefaces or fonts have developed through the years.
The standard fonts like Times New Roman, Arial, Georgia, etc., are
considered to be professional typefaces. I think this is true because when
writing a formal paper, or letter for a school assignment or for your boss, you
would not use comic sans as the font. It looks unprofessional and will not be
taken seriously.
The non-standard fonts, which are everything other than the traditional
from what I read are interesting too. These fonts can be used for any kind of
fun flyer, sign, and anything else that is not supposed to be professional. Like
the font I am using now is the Broadway font. The font that you would see on
the big flashing neon sign for any Broadway performance that will be taking
place.
I think the rhetoric of typography is an interesting topic and after
reading the article, I did not know there were so many things that can be
analyzed about typefaces.
