For students to also understand how this relates to the story To Kill a Mockingbird. 4. Objective: After completing this lesson, students will understand the characters of To Kill a Mockingbird and relate the book to real life situations. 5. Standards: a. RL.9-10.3 i. Analyze how complex characters develop over the course of a text, interact with other characters, and advance the plot or develop a theme. 6. Developmental Prerequisites: a. Students will have an understanding of the plot and characters thus far in the story b. Students will have read through chapter 3 in the story 7. InputInstructional Procedures: a. Introduction: a. Warm Up- Quiz on ch. 1-3
b. Review the story chapters 1-3
c. Look specifically at Atticus line on page 30 i. You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view b. Presentation a. Hand out a picture of a pair of shoes to each student. Students will create a 1 page (at least) story based on their pair of shoes. Then students will share stories in class. 8. Assessment: a. Informal assessment: i. Observation throughout class ii. Observation when sharing 9. Differentiation: a. Level 1: Students will complete the assignment as is in full sentences b. Level 2: Students will bullet point their observations of the shoes and who they think would wear them 10. Closing Statement: a. What have we learned from this? b. How does this relate to the story?
