Reading and Writing difficulties as precieved by


first basic grade teachers

Abstract: This study aimed at


recognizing the reading and writing
difficulties as precieved by first
basic grade teachers and the effect
of variables such as gender, teachers
qualifications, experience, and
teachers major.
The sample of the study included
(123) teachers (44) males and (79)
females chosen Randomly A
questiermans consessted of 33 items
was used and analyzed.
The result of the study showed that
the major difficulties in Reading and
Writing was hesitation in reading
and writing, too much erasing, and
pressure on the pencil.
As of the effect of variables the
study showed significat statistical
differences was found in gender in
favour of female teachers and on
teachers qualification in favour of
B.A.
holders.
While No
signification statistical difference
was found due to experiences and
teachers major.

The researcher suggested a number


of recommendation such as more
attention must be given to teaching
aides, detection in areas of weakness
at early satges, concentration on
reading and writing and finally
parents assistant to solve their
children problems.
