The Faces behind Womens History month
Womens History month begins March 8TH, which will bring the annual highlights of
women all around the world that have made a significant difference in our life.
Dr. Christine Redman-Waldeyer is a PCCC professor, who believes that Womens history
month specifically highlights obstacles women went through, and reminds everyone that the
stigma is still very present in todays society.
As a child Dr. Waldeyer experienced discrimination at her church. The memory sticks
with Dr. Waldeyer, because that day she stood up for what was right, and did not condone what
was happening. The church would not let girls participate in any event, so Dr. Waldeyer and her
family left and found another church who accepted both genders.
Dr. Waldeyer, like other women all around the world, are the little pieces that make up
what Womens History month truly stands for till this day. Another piece to this puzzle was Dr.
Waldeyers college professor, Dr. Hoilan. Dr. Hoilan was the perfect example of everything Dr.
Waldeyer wanted to be and accomplish in life, with her strong but admiring persona, Dr. Hoilan
was the ideal role model.
Although women are taken much more seriously than when Dr. Waldeyer was a child, Dr.
Waldeyer believes that women dont quite have a strong voice yet in society. Dr. Waldeyer
believes that aggressive women are looked down upon greatly, like Hilary Clinton and Sara
Palin. But progress is still happening, and will continue as the years go on.

Womens History month represents the journey that every woman in the world has
gone through, and is going through at this very moment. Every single woman is part of what this
celebration is all about.
