Collins and Devine Review of Project 2

ENGL 5050
November 9, 2016
This is very interesting subject matter and rich in context for rhetorical analysis. As
you do this, consider defining ethos, pathos, and logos for your audience as those
not in the field of writing and English may not be familiar. Also, the content is
interesting and holds the readers attention but you may want to pay close attention
to lower level grammar and syntax issues as some of these omissions can make the
sentences difficult to read or may even change the meaning in your text.
The process of printing was particularly interesting and you may consider adding
more detail here to clarify what some of the many steps are that are taken to
produce these posters. We enjoyed the details about the artist and their work
beyond the posters reviewed here. Elements like this add depth and extra
dimensions to your project.
For your images, your choices were fantastic and we enjoyed the imagery you
discussed. Consider using figure labels (i.e. Figure 1, Figure2, etc.,) for reference
throughout the text. Also larger images within the text and possible even cropped
images of specific elements within the posters may be helpful when discussing
particular elements of the content in each. On the subject of images, you may want
to consider adding images of the printing presses or specific images of the
techniques used with the presses if you can find them to work in congruence with
the text explaining it. Also, consider researching more modern examples of
propaganda and compare how things have changed and how they have remained
the same.
This is a great start for a rough draft and from here you have a good foundation for
building a solid project for this class. We look forward to seeing the finished product
and benefiting from your insights on this subject. Thanks for letting us read over
your material.
