am writing this letter to support Marvin Smith in his application to open a new charter school in
the Cleveland, Ohio area. I have known Marvin since 2004 and there is one consistent guiding
principal in his life: educating underserved children in the best way possib
Marvin and I first met through his after school program in Pomona, California. This program
was called Corporate Kids Cyber Klub or “CK2”. Marvin conceived this after school program
with some unique ideas and this innovative program and leadership style attracting me as a
supporter. He helped underserved youth secure an understanding of computers, technology and
business all with an overarching theme of empowering kids with the self-confidence which
comes with learning and achievement.
1 formed a remarkable connection with one of the kids from CK2. He graduated from Ganesha
High School and went on to graduate from Dartmouth. During his education year, he worked in
the field on our industrial developments and later as an intern at our real estate development
company in Newport Beach. He is now a senior level development officer for one of the leading
industrial REITs in the world and serving in Brazil. While this individual is incredibly smart and
mature for a 27 year old young man, | credit Marvin with igniting the spark which has propelled
him to great heights at an early age.
