Historical Letter

We have talked about many important groups of people who have contributed to
the story of Canadas History. We began with the first explorers who arrived to work in
the fur trade, the different groups who started settlements, and the emergence of a
distinct Canadian culture, known and the Metis.
Your task is to write a friendly letter or two journal entries from the perspective
of one of the following groups of people:
1. Coureurs de Bois
2. Voyageurs
3. Metis man
4. Metis woman
5. Scottish Settler
You will write a rough draft and have it edited by Ms. Morrison or Miss Eddleston
to ensure your spelling and grammar are correct. After you have had your draft
approved, you may type it out on the computer and use a script-style font to make it
look like it has been handwritten.
Things you may want to discuss in your letter include:
-What does the land in Canada look like and where you live
-What do you eat and how do you get food
-What other people do you work or live with
-What is something positive and something negative about Canada
In your letter you MUST include the following information:
Who you are
How did you arrive in Canada (or your parents arrive)
What is your job after you arrived or grew up in Canada
Describe the challenges you are facing, and how you face them
Letters have specific format, so you MUST include the following:
The date you are writing on
Your address for a letter, or your location for a journal entry
A salutation for a letter, or introductory statement for a journal entry
