Dr Emir speaks.
‘Our warmest greetings from Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation. 1thas
indeed been a fulfilling one year for us, as we celebrated our first anniversary in
duly. The ETP programme has provided greater impetus and focus for the oil
and gas industry in Malaysia. In that regard, we at MPRC are very appreciative
of the support by our industry partners to address concerns and shortcomings
they faced. One major concern is the shortage of skilled human capital. For
example, by facilitating the collaborative efforts between industry players and
public universities, MPRC was able to channel and match the right resources to
‘tackle these issues head on.
ONS Norway
While we address key industry concerns, MPRC is also taking a long term approach to prepare local
companies to venture into the global and regional oil and gas arena. Early this year, MPRC and several
private sector companies and government agencies took part in OTC 2019 in Houston. In addition, during
the international World Gas Conference in Kuala Lumpur, MPRC also played host to a number of oil and gas
companies that came to Malaysia,
Today, we are bringing Malaysian companies to seak opportunities around the Asian region. Come late
August, MPRC will be at ONS Norway. This will beanother strong platform to raise the profile of Malaysia's
oil and gas industry in the international arena. In addition, our participation will give foreign oil and gas
companies a closer look at what is happening in Malaysia and encourage these companies to invest in
Malaysia.Our collaboration
As part of the growth of the oll and gas industry, we have begun forging clocer linkages between financial
institutions and oil and gascompanies. MPRC and Bank Negara Malaysia are working together to organise
talks and seminars for industry players. This platform will be useful for industry players, regulators,
government agencies and investors to collaborate, share ideas or tonetwork and build relationships.
