GSM BASED MONTHLY ELECTRICITY ENERGY METER BILLING

WITH SMS AND DISPLAY TO THE USER
ABSTRACT
The main objective of the project is to develop a SMS alert system on the monthly unit
consumed and the bill amount to the utility user at the end of each month. The microcontroller
takes the reading from the energy meter via an Opto-isolator (optionally can display the
reading on day today basis on an LCD ) duly interfaced to a microcontroller. The reading of
the energy meter is also sent to the cell phone of the user by a message through GSM modem
being fed from the microcontroller via level shifter IC and RS232 link. This project is powered
by an on-board power supply takes the ac power and converts it into dc power that is fed to onboard devices and integrated circuits.
