Atmosphere Hazard: Tornadoes

Tornadoes that occurred from 1955-2013 In Birmingham

Caption
The tornado patterns in the map show the red line which means tornadoes of a magnitude
of 5 and the orange that represents the magnitude level of 4. As you can see in the map it shows
the area around Birmingham is going through many tornado hazards. According to John De
block the area of Alabama is like a battlefield of severe weather that would make air masses
contrast in the southwest to northeast. Because of the air masses that go in different speeds it has
the ability to spin and create a tornado due to the rotation of the air.

Tornadoes that occurred from 1955-2013 In Kansas

In this map it shows Kansas and Oklahoma which has different kinds of magnitudes of tornadoes
in the area ranging from four to five. On May 3 1999 in that time alone 74 tornadoes was
happening across the two states in less than 21 hours. According to the National Severe Storms
Laboratory they have found that there were 48 dead, 800 injured, and 8000 homes were
damaged. But because of the group there were fewer casualties because of the radar and
technology they had to determine the timing of the tornado.

Tornadoes that occurred from 1955-2013 in the United States

In this map it shows the amount of tornadoes in the United States. As you can see in the map it
shows that there are more tornadoes on the east side of the country more than the west. Many
tornadoes ranging from a magnitude of 4 and 5 were happening in these areas from 1955-2013.
Even though many years have passed there has not been much changes in the hazards of
tornadoes. In the map it shows that all of the tornadoes that happened are all in one chunk of
area in the east while there is none in the west.
