Summary
What Does It Mean to Teach and to Learn?
ANYONE CAN TEACH?
People think that anyone can teach because all you do is stand up in
front of the students and talk. I think their perception is skewed
because that might have been the way they were taught, but thats
not how it is now. Teaching isnt just standing in front of students and
talking; its interacting with the children, its getting them to enjoy
learning, its allowing them to grow to their greatest potential. Being
the one to teach children is an honor.

ACADEMIC LANGUAGE

Teaching is an art and science. Its unique in the way that each teacher
teaches a different way that expresses who they are. Its a science
because there are processes that must be followed in order to have
greatest effect on the students.
HOW PEOPLE LEARN
As a teacher you must assess how your students learn the best. Not
every student can be taught the same way. The Multiple Intelligence
Test is one way to see how the students will best learn.
Blooms Taxonomy
Blooms Taxonomy shows the different stages of cognitive function.
Theres Remembering, Understanding, Applying, Analyzing, Evaluating,
and Creating. As students move up their level of cognitive function
increases. Its important that you are pushing the students to the next
level.
Cognitive Learning Theories: The Role of the Learner
Jean Piaget is an important cognitive theorist. He developed different
stages of cognitive development.
