Four facts

- From 1945 to 1949, Warhol went to Carnegie Institute of Technology and


earned a bachelor degree in Pictorial design.
- He took a round-the-world vacation for two months to reward himself.
- His first exhibition of sculpture in 1964 included hundreds of boxes.
- In 1970s, he started to paint portraits for the celebrities.
Three works
- In 1963, he created sleep, which is a film of a man sleeping. He was
inspired by a conversation with a stockbroker. His work conveys a sense of
stillness. The reactions of the audience are different.
- In 1968, he created a photograph Any Warhol Gets Shot. Valarie Solanas
shot Warhol in 1968. He was trying to show his scar with a large
photograph. He thought the scars were beautiful.
- He exhibited the sculptures of hundreds of boxes in 1964. He was trying to
draw peoples attention to the boxes, which he refers as wallpapers. Some
people said that this had turned a page in art history.
