Was It Legally, Clinically, Or None Of The Above

The term insane holds differences, depending on whether it is legally insane or

mentally insane. When someone is legally insane, they are still able to function in
society, even with their disorders. When someone is clinically insane, they have a
disorder or many disorders that cause them to not be able to function in society. They
cant tell the difference from reality and what is not real. General Zaroff has no reason to
be called either type of insane. He has no disorders and functions just fine in society. He
is just a very terrible person. He believed that lower beings, animals and people who
were not hunters, were put on the Earth to please his purposes and wants.
General Zaroff, in a modern court of law, would be charged with the murders of
multiple people. He would be held responsible in a court of law for his actions because
he had no mental disorder or defect. He knew perfectly well what he was doing and was
aware of every action he made. His concepts of morality were just very twisted.
Now, some could argue, that since he was living on an isolated island and had
been in a war, that he was mentally unstable, but he proved, by having Ivan about, that
he had no problems in his head that should concern other people. He was able to
interact with Ivan just fine. He truly just enjoyed hunting something that was smarter
than an animal.
