Electrical Condition Monitoring - Course Work 1, CCE April 2015

Discussion on Frequency Response Analysis in Power Transformers

Changes in state of Transformers can be detected by the Frequency Response
Analysis (FRA) technique.
Obtain six papers from a variety of sources, e.g. IEEE and IEE/IET journals or
conference papers and/or from company websites, which deal with FRA and how
it informs Asset Managers on the condition of their transformers.
From the material gathered prepare a short report, for an educated person who has
no background in this field, outlining:
Transformer construction methods and how the construction method
provides the basis for FRA investigation.
What FRA is and what factors are considered during analysis
How FRA can be used to determine faults
The advantages and disadvantages of this method
Comparison of data presented by the six papers
An indication of future trends, if any, in this field
The total report should be restricted to 2000 words.
Marks will be awarded for the following:
Presentation, structure and readability
