Improvement old car VS New car

Major target: Reduce weight by merge and upgrade some components and improvise system
Type of system improvised:

1- Suspension:
Old

New

Using Normal double wishbone for both rear

and front suspension, that is has the absorber at
the centre of both wheels , rear and front

Front suspension use double wishbone but

modified the positioning of the arm and rear
suspension use single swing arm type.

Size of control arm quite big and heavy. There

are lot of solid part. Using rod end M12

Reduce the size of control arm as we use

optimisation at the solid and the important part.
Using rod end M8.
Direct mounting to hard box due to the hard box
being improvised, and there is a lot of weight

The weight quite high because need frames act

like chassis to hold the control arm

reduce
Use alloy motorcycle rim

Using carbon fibre rims

Dont apply Solid Thinking Inspire

Apply Solid Thinking Inspire (STI) which is

New Design Software that help to optimize
Design and help in analyse our design

Example of concept design of single swing arm

after apply STI, however this design doesnt
include Brake Mounting

2- Brake:
Old

New

Motorcycle hydraulic brake caliper.

Bicycle brake Caliper (hydraulic type).

Advantages: high braking force

Disadvantages: heavy (bigger caliper & bolt
mounting) & imbalance braking force may
cause the vehicle to spin.

Advantages: lighter than motorcycle brake

calliper, use smaller size bolt mounting(less
weight), and higher safety, reduce possibilities
for vehicle to yaw.
Disadvantages: less braking force but still
efficient for light vehicle and depends on the
total tires that has brake.

two callipers at each front tires due to regulation

number 2.9.4 , which is braking effort must be
applied to at least two wheels

One calliper at each front and rear tires to satisfy

regulation number 2.21.5 , which braking effort
must apply to all road wheels

3- Steering:
Old

New

rack and pinion steering system

Use perodua kancil steering rack, which is right
side driver, so need many components to make
the linkage and to complete the system.

rack and pinion steering system

Using buggy steering rack, which is centred
steering rack type, which simplified the system
and reduce some component.

Minor target: reduce friction, this minor changes that to be used if got enough funds
1234-

Using ceramic bearing

Using carbon fibre rims
Most part that need to machining using lighter material; aluminium
Using stainless steel rod end
