What factors do you believe contribute to workplace bullying?

Are bullies a product of

the situation, or do they have flawed personalities? What situations and what personality
factors might contribute to to the presence of bullies?
Factors contributing to workplace bullying include:
1.People are bullied because they are seen as a potential threat.
2. People are bullied because they are seen a different and are targeted.
3. The bully may be taking advantage of the power they possess.
4. The bully has low self-esteem.
Bullies may be a product of both the situation as well as having flawed personalities. The
bully may be stressed in in the workplace and let their steam off on others. This is a
product of the situation. Or, the bully may have grown up feeling insecure and not good
enough and therefore lack self-esteem. This is an indicator of a flawed personality.
Situations and personality factors that might contribute to the presence of workplace
bullying are:
1. Narcissistic personalities. People who tend to be arrogant, have a sense of selfimportance, require excessive admiration and have a sense of entitlement. People with
these personalities tend to contribute to the presence of workplace bullying.
2. Some managers believe that giving threats will increase work productivity while it
may really scare employees to believe that they are not doing a good enough job
and in turn slow down productivity.
3. When workers have a high workload, this may cause them to become stressed and
unable to manage their emotions and take their stress and anger on others around them.

Ans. I strongly believe in-equality and comparison are the main factors
contribute to workplace bullying. Most of the bullies are products of situation
and some of them do have flawed personalities. Employees might compare
themselves to friends, neighbors, co-workers, or colleagues in other
organizations or compare their present job with past jobs, in-equality in power
and position, these are situations contribute to the presence of bullies. Negative
and stressful working environment, low self esteem are the personality factors
might contribute to the presence of bullies.
