Use of DTX on downlink.

Calculated as:
(no. of blks not sent/total no. of Blks)*100
2 mandatory blocks are always sent using DTX: 1 TCH (with SID information) and 1
SACCH.
Full and Sub Values
Information elements with Full in their names are calculated on all blocks.
Information elements with Sub in their names are calculated only on the blocks kno
wn to be sent also when downlink DTX is active (in each 104-multiframe, one TCH
block with SID information and one SACCH block).
VAD / CNG / DTX
VAD (Voice Activity Detection) / DTX (Discontinuous Transmission) / CNG (Comfort
Noise Generator) are used to reduce the transmission rate during inactive speec
h periods while maintaining an acceptable level of output quality. VAD classifie
s the input signal into active speech, inactive speech or background noise. Base
d on the VAD decisions, DTX inserts Silence Insertion Descriptor (SID) frames du
ring the silence intervals. During silence, SID's are periodically sent to the C
NG module, which generates ambient noise during periods of inactive speech on th
e receive side
