NEW DELHI: Bowling ace and new dad Irfan Pathan was asked
not to name his son 'Daud' or 'Yakub' by a Twitter user last week,
a day after the name of Saif Ali Khan's and Kareena Kapoor's
baby son Taimur sparked furor on social media.
If Pathan was offended, he didn't show it. His response was
dignified and heart-warming: "Irrespective of what we name him,
one thing's for sure. He'll make the nation proud, like his father
and his uncle. (cricketer Yusuf Pathan)"

Pathan, by the way, has named his son Imran Khan Pathan.

The gratuitous advice Pathan received apparently refers to two

terrorists, Dawood Ibrahim and Yakub Memon. A day earlier,
Kareena Kapoor's announcement of her son's birth was greeted
by a wave of Islamophobic comments, and the actress was
criticized for choosing a name commonly associated with one of
the most feared conquerors in history.

However, the Twitter user who asked Pathan not to name his son
Daud or Yakub said he didn't support those who took exception to
the name of Kapoor's child.
