This most trustworthy of villain minions is the experienced, competent, persistent soldier -- a field-trained
officer who serves the villain with military precision. He is usually encountered in the field as leader of the
villain's field operations. He is not encountered directly until the middle of or the latter part of the
adventure; until then, the heroes encounter only his subordinates.

This villain is the one who interrogates the heroes and NPCs captured by the villains. He accompanies
the other Minor Villain out into the field and works on anyone captured; he enjoys inflicting pain and
suffering.

Some poor wretch blundered into part of the master villain's plan and saw too much. What he saw drove
him crazy. He gibber and jabbers, occassionally uttering clues about what he's seen, but just isn't
coherent. He knows enough that the heroes will need to take him along to comment on what they're
encountering, though, so he can't just be met and forgotten.

As you wander through the trade roads between the major cities, you soon meet a familiar face,
who treats you to a meal in exchange for willing ears. The chancellor/advisor to the local lord
waits until most of the crowds have drawn away from you before telling you any news beyond
small talk. Finally, the tale begins.
Recently, there has been outbreaks of disease. This obviously has many locals concerned.
Rumors say it is the work of the corrupt commander of the local army, but none know the truth.
It's up to you to get to the bottom of the controversy and learn what it means for all the folk and
lands around a major city. In exchange for your aid, you'll gain whatever the village can gather
(2d20 gp) as well as additional accolades as heroes of a major city.

concerned. Rumors say it is the work of the traitorous former captain of the guard, but none
know the truth. It's up to you to get to the bottom of the controversy and learn what it means for
all the folk and lands around a small village. In exchange for your aid, you'll gain your armor and
weapons repaired for free as well as additional accolades as heroes of a small village.

obviously has many locals concerned. Rumors say it is the work of a mighty villainous warrior
for hire, but none know the truth. It's up to you to get to the bottom of the controversy and learn
what it means for all the folk and lands around a desecrated temple or shrine. In exchange for
your aid, you'll gain local land and property grants as well as additional accolades as heroes of
a desecrated temple or shrine.
