Introduction

A Memorandum of Understanding was inked between UniKL and Fisheries


Department of Malaysia on July 13, 2011 at Wisma Tani for the handing-over of the Training
Ship, KL PAUS. With the approval of Ministry of Finance, the Fisheries Department has
agreed to write-off its training ship, KL PAUS as a gift to UniKL. The training ship was built
at Malaysian Shipyard Engineering, Pasir Gudang, at the cost of RM22 million 20 years ago.
She was designed as a purse seiner fishing training for local fisherman in deep sea tuna
fishing.
The training ship, KL PAUS is fitted with a Yanmar medium speed engine of 2,800
HP and weighs 684 tons. She is 51m long with a beam of 9.1m and a draft of 4m. She can
store up to 125,000 liters of diesel oil, 150 tons of fresh water and 100 tonnes fish catch. In
addition, she is also equipped navigational equipment such as sonar, global positioning
system, gyro compass and GMDSS. She is also fitted with equipment for undertaking
research like the acoustic echo sounder.

As the others fishing vessel, KL PAUS also equipped with mooring and deck
machineries to be able operated.

Abstract
Mooring and deck machineries are one of the most important things in all ships
structure. It is concerned that KL PAUS is equipped with deck machineries so that it can
function properly. Deck equipment in good order is essential for the safety of the fishing boat
crew and the vessel itself.

Conclusion
From our research on the mooring and deck machineries on KL PAUS, we know that
KL PAUS have a lot of equipment with various kind of function. Besides, we also learned tha
safety that need to be consider during on board.
