There is also a Static tat procedure that will gve accurate information ‘on the conadtion of tho soft starter. The folowing information details the test procedures, test equiprnect required ond actions to be taken from the test resuts, Start Performance Test Thisis a dynamic test that verifes he correct ‘operation of the MCDD3000 eottetarter during “start mode, You will ned a suitably rated ammeter. Best results are achieved using a cp on analogue artrneter. Use the folowing procedure: 1. Deterrine the expected start current by ‘multiplying the programmed Motor Ful Load Current (Parameter 1} by the Curent Limit (Porameter 2) 2, Start the motor and meacure the actual eta current. 3. fthe expected start current and the measured start curert ae the gore, the soft starters pertorming conecty 4, Ifthere isa large variation between the expected stort current ard the measured start curt, this ‘could indicate a faulty MCDGO00 Main Contra (Module or internal Curent Tranefoeer. Exchange the Main Control Modul. If the fauit remains check the Qurent Transformers by measuring the: secondary resistance for continuity and visually ingpecting these cireuts. 5. If Current Ramp start mode is used, the minimum expected start currents the programmed Motor Full Load Current (Parameter 1) multiplied by the Inial Current (Parameter 3), Continue with Steps 20 4 detaled above. Run Performance Test Trisis a dynamic test thal verifies the correct ‘operation of the MGO3000 sot starter during “run mode". You will need a sultabiy rated votrneter. Use the folowing procedure: 1, Ensure that the soft starter isin “run mode". This ccan be verified by making eure the "Run" LED located on the soft starter front dspiay panel is tuminatea, 2, Measure the voltage across each phase of the sof starter, ie Lt/T1, 2/72, L373. 3, The measured voltage should oe loss than 2VAC when the soft starters operating correct. If the votage fs signitcamty greater than 2VAC this ‘could indicate: ‘=A faulty fring cuit on the Main Control Module. Exchange the Main Control Module 10 689i the faut is removed. ‘+ Atauty SOR gatecircuit. wih a multimeter, ‘measure the gate resistarce (anode 10 cathode / cathode to anode) of the suspect SCR. Comparative readings should be taken with a known hoatthy SCR device. ifthe tostrosutts ate erroneous, replace the SOR, ‘© Afauty fring loom cut. Perform a continuity test on the frng om ercut and visual inspect for a loose conection. Power Circuit Test Thisis a static test that verifies the condition of the CD3000 soft starter SCRs, fling jooms and Main Control Moule, You wilinoed a S0VDC insutaton tester. Use the following procedure: 1. MG.15 82.02 - VLT is a registered Danfoss trademark 15 sysaL Tests Dasfs Control Input Test ‘Ths ls a dynam tes that vores the correct ‘operation of the MCD3000 soft starter remote control inoute, Tis teat must be performed with the soft stertr powered up. You will need a iow votage DC multimeter. Use the folowing prooecure: 1. With nothing connected into a remote control input, the input status LED (yellow) should be ‘extinguished. 2. Measure the voltage acroes the remote control Inout t should be between 18 and 24VDC, 3. ifthe measured voltage is signicantly less than 18VDC tris could indicate damage to the remote contol input crcuit of the MCD3000 Main Control Mode. Exchange the Main Control Module 10 seeif the fault is removed, This darnage is caused by externa voltage applied to the remote control input. These inpute are active 24VDC and must be controled with volt free contacts. Refer to Secton 6.8, Remote Contro! Input fale). 4. With an externally cbosed contact/switch connected into a remote conto) input, the input status LED (ye) shoud be iluminates, 5. The measured volage across the remote contro! input should be close to zero VDC. 6. the measured voltage is ignfcantl higher than 18VDC thie could indicate a faulty external eld ccontact/switch or a break in the external control circuitry. This eult can be veriied by removing the ‘external contro circuit wired into the remote control inout and replacing this with a wire ir at the soft starter remote contol input terrinal, The ‘measured voltage across ths input should be close to 2610 VOC. Power Transformer Test ‘This s a dynamic test that verifes the MCD3000 soft starter contol s.pply transformer (PT). This test mut bbe periormed with the soft starter contsol supply power on. You wil need a low voltage AC multimeter. Use tn following procedure: 1. The contrl supply vansiormer has a secondary winding consisting of two orange wires and one purple wire, These three wires along with an earn ‘wire are connected to a plastic connector olock that she Main Control Module is seated into, 2. Remove the Main Control Module from the soft starter ‘3. At the plastic connector block mesaure the voltage between each orange wite and the purple wire, This er0ud be 9 to 14VAC. lf no voltage is preent the control transformer could be ‘uity or ro control suoply is present at terminals AI/A2 or 16 MCD3000 Series AQ/AG of the MCD3000 sof starter. This should be 18 to 28VAG, If no volege s present ‘the contol transformer could be faulty or no control suppl is present a terminals A1/A2 or AQIAG of the soft starter. Ifthe measured voltage is less than 40% of the expected votage, check the external power supply: The supply comected to tominals AT/A2 or A2IAS ofthe soft starter could be incorrect. Undo fixing screws (2) and remove lower ‘Step 1. Undo fxing serons (4} and remove front terminal cover cover. ‘Step 2 Undo fixing sexes (} and it off Control Step 2. Rermove the Main Control Mode using the method described on page 17. For models MCD3075~3132 eso rxmove the aluminium face plates. ‘Step 2. Fit the new Snubber/Overwitage Protection Module in reverse order.
