Camels Roads Crossing at WK Fields {Hazards & Controls}

The Camels crossing roads in WK Fields are a prevailing risk to all road users. Camels are
always a danger to vehicles because they can change direction with no warnings.
This danger is greatly increased during dusk or night times, with poor visibility.
Vehicles colliding with camels involve high severities, and so extra controls need to be
initiated to prevent this.
Considering the upcoming spring camping season, roads commuters numbers will
increase substantially. Therefore, it is recommended to take extreme care and be highly
alert to such risks during your journey.
Drive cautiously for there are many road detours and intersections at WK area / roads, due
to on-going projects.
Abiding by the roads official speed limits and precautionary signage can save you from any
possible risks.

IF YOU ENCOUNTER STRAY CAMELS WHILE DRIVING, YOU MUST APPLY THE
FOLLOWING PRECAUTIONS FOR YOUR SAFETY AND OTHERS:

Decrease speed to a minimum (10 Km/Hr.), when sighting camels approaching the road.
Turn on your vehicles hazard-flash-lights.
Stop your vehicle completely if any camel/s approach your vehicle.
Maintain a minimum distance of 20-Meters between you and crossing camel/s.
Do not honk your car-horn upon closing / stray camels.
A camel normally weighs approximately 1000 Kg, so the impact of collision with a camel
would be substantial.
Vehicles collisions with camels have proven to be fatal since a camels body angle of
collision is at the same elevation as that of the driver.
Camels movement is highly unpredictable. They may move very quickly in any direction,
due to their long-ranging steps.
Whenever travelling on interior and/or WK fields approach roads, please be extra alert.
Over-speeding is the main cause of motor vehicle accidents (MVAs).
