Self Evaluation

I think I have accomplished a lot this year in English 12. There are some things I
was already naturally good at, such as creative writing and persuasive essays. However, I
was not used to informative essays, research assignments, or journaling. I think that
having these assignments this year has helped me become a better student and a better
writer.
I think that this class has helped me learn to efficiently organize information and
express my thoughts in a logical way that is easily understood and flows well. I know
how to properly format papers, express thoughts, give information, and cite information I
have found elsewhere. I have learned to be a better writer, and I think this also translates
into how I organize my thoughts, and how well I communicate with others.
Throughout this class, I have discovered several different tools, such a s Owl
Purdue, that have taught me how to format my writing and self-edit. I have learned how
to recognize when a sentence is fragmented, or sounds awkward, and I know how to edit
it myself.
Lastly, I was unaware until now how much this class has opened me up to new
literature that I didnt think I would like. Normally, I do not enjoy poems or old
literature. I tend to avoid it. However, this year on my literature list, there were several
old writers and classics, so I was forced to choose one. I ended up choosing A Tale of
Two Cities, by Charles Dickens. This book is now one of my favorites, and I will
continue to read Charles Dickens classics, possibly moving onto other famous writers.
I would say that his class has definitely helped to prepare me for college
and a successful future, and I am a better student because of this class.
