o [MALIK ET AL/ PERCEIVED STRESS AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE relationship between emotional intelligence, physical and psychological health and found that the high level of emotional intelligence is associated with better health and improved quality of life, In addition, individuals with low El tend to use avoidance coping styles, whereas individuals with high ET may use adaptive coping strategies to alleviate distress (Emmons & Colby, 1995; ‘McFarland & Buehler, 1997), The results of present study also show that there is significantnegative relationshipexists between PS and El. It means that knowing one's feeling and being able to handle those felings, _motivateone to accomplish the work, to be creative and sensing what others are feeling and handling relationships effectively; have a potential to decrease the experience of stress. The higher an individual is on emotional. intelligence, lesser is the stress ‘experienced by him/her. These above mentioned findings also inline with other researchers (Pau &Croueher, 2003). The present finding ceanbe explained by the findings of pervious research claiming that (Thingujam and Ram, 2000) El is correlated strongly and positively ‘with coping with stress. Abraham (Abraham, 2005) has correlated high emotional intelligence with lower levels of perceived stress, positive conflict styles and other measures of positive adaptations in difficult work environment. Pervious finding that low EL is associated the stress suggests two possible strategies: firstly, selection of prospective students could be based on El, and there should be interventions to enhance students’ emotional intelligence (Naidoo& Pau, 2008). Conclusion ‘Nowadays, increasing stress is cleatly an issue among young adults ‘belongs to medical profession. The stressors that may undermine educational suecess are also risk factors for later psychiatric disorders. These issues are vitally important because medical colleges across the world are reporting large increases in the prevalence and severity of mental health conditions experienced by students. Although admitting in medical college is considered as strong foundation for securing stable employment and achieving, professional independence; but atthe same time, it places different pressures on students, There is a need for long-term prospective research covering a range of institutions to obtain a fll picture of ess in students, Early detection services aim to identify the early symptoms of distress, reduce the different risks and enable them to learn complex professional skills, References Abraham R, (2005), mesons igencein WekplaeArevew nd sya Schule R, Robets KD, ols Eatin Lien: An eration Haedbook Contre Mass: Hopreosnd Hate Publik 25, Akin M, Karama, Sena, ¥.¥, En Eola, H., Akay, Mt, 200 ‘uy Avaya, Tukey.
