A transistor radio company manufactures 4 models A, B,C,D which have profit
contributions of Rs. 8,15 and 25/- per models A,B,C respectively and a loss of Rs.1/- on
model D .Each type of radio requires a certain amount of time for the manufacture of
components for assembling and for packing specially manufacturing, 2 hrs for assembling
and 1 hour for packing the corresponding figures for a dozen units of model B are 2,1,2
and for dozen units of model C are 3,5,1 while a dozen units of D requires 1hr of packing
only. During the forthcoming week, the company will be able to make available 15hrs of
manufacturing, 20 hrs of assembling and 10hrs of packing time. Obtain the optimal
production schedule for company (company wants to utilize its resources fully)

Machine A costs Rs.45, 000 and the operating costs are estimated at Rs.1000 for the first
year, increasing by Rs. 10,000 per year in the second and subsequent years. Machine B
costs Rs. 50,000 and operating costs are Rs. 2000 for the first year, increasing by Rs. 4000
in the second and subsequent years. If we now have a machine of type A, should we
replace it with B? If so when? Assume that both machines have no resale value and future
costs are not discounted.

Two players A and B are involved in a game of matching coins. When there are both heads,
players a wins 100 points and wins 0 when there are two trails. When there is one head and
one tail A wins 50 points. Determine the pay-off the matrix, the best strategy for both
players A and B. Find out the value of game to A.
Maintenance of machine can be carried out in 5 operations which have to be performed in
a sequence. Time taken for each of these operations has a mean time of 5 minutes and
follows exponential distribution. The breakdown of machine follows Poisson distribution
and the average rate of break down is 3 per hour. Assume that there is only one mechanic
available, find out the average idle time for each machine break down.
