Reflective Essay on Rhetorical Analysis
When it came down to writing this paper, I struggled with the topic, I first wanted to
write about the struggles of being best friends with a foreign exchange student. However, I soon
realized that there were not enough contradicting articles on this topic, even though I have
personal experience with this topic, I needed to find another topic for this assignment. The first
day we were given to work on this essay I was struggling to find a new topic and articles that
supported it, I eventually was assigned the topic on Marijuana by Ricci because he believed it
had the large diversity that was required to fulfil all the requirements for the articles.
When writing this essay, I struggled with the wording and had to spend a large amount of
time revising it to get it to how I wanted it to be. The wording I wanted to portray in this essay is
for the reader to be able to read my essay and know that I was aware of the topic and how I knew
which topic was more efficient at getting their point across through the rhetorical strategies the
authors used. I hope the reader notices the hard work that I put into this piece and acknowledge
that this was one of the hardest essays I had to write so far.
However, I believe I could have used more time on picking the exact wording I wanted to
portray the correct image I wanted to project. I can now see that I also could have worked on
working some more evidence into my essay to strengthen all my claims, since we are talking
about ethos, I might as well have some of the rhetorical strategy of ethos in my essay. I also
believe I could have improved my flow, however I am happy with this piece because it has been

the hardest to write both in this class and possibly one of the hardest essays I have had to write in
my life, because of the different form it had.
