DIVISIONAL OVERVIEW
Goldman Sachs Investment Banking division identifies, structures and executes diverse and innovative public and
private market transactions for corporations, financial institutions and governments. Transactions include mergers,
acquisitions, divestitures, the issuance of equity or debt capital, or a combination of these. Goldman Sachs seeks to
deliver high-quality strategic advice and creative financing solutions to our clients. Our global relationships, coupled

SUMMER PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Investment Banking Division Summer Program is typically a total of eight to nine weeks, beginning with an
orientation and training. As a member of IBD, you will have the opportunity to work on some of the largest and
highest profile transactions being done in the capital markets and merger markets around the world. We look to our
professionals to work closely with and become the trusted financial advisors to CEOs and senior executives at leading
companies and institutions around the world.
Our team approach to client service enables our bankers to play an important role in building relationships and
executing transactions. For instance, our bankers may help to orchestrate a global equity or debts offering for an AsiaPacific corporation, advise a US company on a cross-border merger or create an innovative private market transaction
for a European financial institution. Working in such a challenging and exhilarating work environment, you will be able
to build a broad-based skill set which includes strategic and financial analysis, client relationship, leadership and
management skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial analysts play a critical role in our transaction teams, running valuation and other financial analyses and
helping to execute complex transactions across all of our business areas. High levels of analytical skills, along with an
ability to work well in a team environment, will ensure that an analyst will get the most out of his or her years in the
division, while gaining comprehensive expertise in all the basic skills of investment banking. We recruit highly
