Siddhartha: "The Brahmin's Son" (1-9)

Research and define the following terms (some are Buddhist terms, some
are people/objects, and some are regular vocabulary words).
Brahmin = someone who is in the upper class or someone who is praised
Om = a syllable used in Hinduism; used at end and beginning of prayers and
texts
Art of contemplation & meditation = finding greater emotions and exercises
that include judgment and reasoning contracted with emotions
Atman = a persons soul
Avaricious = being overly greedy with what you have
All-Radiant= shining rays or marked by an expression of love or excitement
Atonement = resolution for a wrong or an injury
Emanating= to come forth
Rig-Veda= a ancient Indian collection of hymns and one of the four canonical
sacred texts
Discontent = not satisfied or let down by yourself or others
Suffice = to be enough in quality and quantity
Ablutions= a ritual washing associated with a religious observance
Supplication= a prayer or request of help from a god or goddess
Prajapati= a group of Hindu gods or goddesses that protect life by a king or
kings
Transient= lasting for only a short period of time
Upanishads of Sama-Veda= concepts of Hinduism through a collection of
texts
Sages= various people with the same name or a plant used as medicine
Insatiable = cant be satisfied
Discourses= intense, formal discussion
Chandogya-Upanishads=Sanskrit text embedded in the Chandogya Brahman
of the Sama Veda
Satya= Sanskrits word for truth
Banyan tree= national tree of the Republic of India
Samanas= Province int eh Dominican Republic
Ascetics= to live without items; or living as a hermit
Undeviating= not subjected to change; to move forward without getting side
tracked
Resignation = to step down in position or giving something up
Bast (mat made of) = a goddess in Egyptian mythology
Disillusionment = feeling discouraged after finding out something wasnt as
you thought it was to be
Benumbed= feeling lost or lost interest from overexposure
Pilgrim= a traveler, who is on a journey to a holy place
