Objectives: Children will be able to:
1. identify a fruit based on smelling it while blindfolded.
2. associate the fruit and its colour through a song, I see colour everywhere.

Provide opportunities for children to be engaged with different percussion
instruments and fruits. (E)

Procedures:

1. Teacher to ask the children to sit behind the boundary line in 2 lines, in front of

are on the plastic plates! Teacher to pass the magic bag to the children. Each child
would take a label from the bag and place it in front of the fruit. Each child would
have a chance.
5. If the child is unable to get the correct answer, give hints, such as, The fruit is
red in colour.
6. Different fruits have different shapes. What are the shapes you see here?
7. Next, the teacher will talk about smell. Children, Pooh needs help here. He is
having a runny nose and could not smell the fruits! Children, lets help him!
Remember, the fruit must have a very strong smell.
8. Teacher will ask 3 children to close their eyes.

9. She will open the zip lock bag and allow them to smell and guess what the fruit is.
10. After that, they would open their eyes and have to pick up one card from the two
cards in front of them, one of the cards is the correct answer.
11. Teacher would repeat with another 3 children. The last 2 children would smell a
fruit that is not so strong.
12. Teacher will reveal the correct answers. Children, through this short activity,
there are some fruits that have strong smell while some dont have. Therefore, other
than smell, you can use your sense of sight to identify fruits too!
13. Okay children, now we left with 2 fruits! Which is Poohs favourite fruit? He
could not remember how to pronounce the colour, so lets help him through this
song!
14. Teacher will go through the names of the 3 instruments with the children and
what is printed on it. She would demonstrate once for the children.
15. When the teacher is singing, children must listen to the colour that they hear. For
example, if they hear red, only the children have to find the instruments that have
the picture of red apple and play it. (E)
16. Teacher will pass around the zip lock bag that has 3 instruments in it (E). The
instruments had a picture of the fruit on it already.
17. Allow the children to explore with the instruments for about a minute or two. (E)
18. The song will repeat with other colours (green and yellow) so that all the
children would be able to play the instruments that are given to them. (E)

19. Children will pass the instruments back to the teacher in an orderly manner.
20. Yay! Pooh found his favourite fruit! Durian has a very strong smell, and it is
green in colour on the outside! Thank you for everybodys help! Now, Pooh can
enjoy his favourite fruit! Yum yum yum.
