Battery Testing brief

UPS batteries are chemical energy storage devices that deteriorate over time. They
have a design life based on optimum site conditions and an expected number of
charge-discharge cycles. Secondary batteries play an essential role, usually as a
source of standby power, in many areas of business and commerce, such as telecom
and data centers. To ensure those batteries deliver their full performance when
called upon to do so, you must rely on a regular testing regime.
Typical method of battery testing include:

Visual inspection
VRLA-Check for distortion caused by plate/ pole growth, leakage or corrosion
Flooded cells - check for plate colour, sediment level, electrolyte level, leakage and
corrosion.
NiCads - check for leakage and corrosion.
