Introduction

This document tells how to use the firmware upgrade tool supplied with the
Ascom ACU (Audio Capturing Unit) in order to download new firmware to
such a device.

Description

An Ascom ACU contains a set of ACMs (Audio Capturing Modules).

Here are listed all ACM chipsets currently connected to the PC, along
with the firmware version currently loaded on each chipset.

Here you browse the PC file system for the firmware file you want to
upgrade the ACU with.

This area shows the progress and result of the file extraction and
firmware upgrade process.

Clicking this button re-initializes all ACM chipsets connected to the PC.

Clicking this button starts download of the firmware onto the ACM
chipset.

How to Perform a Firmware Upgrade

Follow these steps to download new firmware to an Ascom ACU.

1. Plug the ACU into the PC.
2. Launch the Firmware Upgrade Tool from the Start menu by navigating
to Ascom TEMS Products Utilities TEMS Investigation
Ascom ACU Firmware Upgrade Tool 1.0.
Alternatively, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Ascom\TEMS
Products\TEMS Investigation 14.6\Application and run the file
AscomAcuFirmwareUpgradeTool.exe.
3. Click the Re-init All Devices button (4). This will initialize the
connected ACU, if it is not initialized already, and display the installed
firmware versions.
4. Click the Browse button (2) and browse to the folder where the latest
firmware file is located (file extension .acuR2). Select the firmware that
you want to download to the ACU.
A message Firmware Extraction Successful! will be displayed in the
main window area (3) provided that the firmware is successfully
extracted from the .acuR2 file. Await this message before proceeding.
5. Click the Start Download button (5). The firmware upgrade is now
performed, and its progress is reported in the main area of the window
(3).
