Analysis of a movie
The movie that I chose was Revolution. The movie is about a New York trapper named
Tom Dobb who involuntarily becomes a participant in the Revolutionary War after his son is
drafted into the war under the command of the villainous Sergeant Major Peasy. He then
becomes convinced that he must take a stand and fight for the colonies. The revolution had a
huge impact on Dobbs life because he and his son became involved in the war, fighting for the
colonies. They lived their daily lives out on the battlefields, instead on their ship bringing back
furs. It changed their entire life style and the rest of their lives. When the British capture New
York, Tom and his son Ned have to work in a rope factory. Tom is humiliated and used as a fox
for a fox hunt. Ned goes and runs with a gang that plans on rebelling against the Brits, which
lands him and jail and then as a servant for a British Sergeant. Tom then has to join the
revolution because he must get his son back. They are saved by a native tribe, whom they stay
with for six months before they fight for another three years. The war caused them pain and over
three years of their lives. Also, Ned is only a young boy, and wont grow up like regular boys,
having gone through this terrible event as a child. It cost him some of the best years of his life,
and he wont be able to experience the regular American childs dream. However, the spinoff is
that they fought for their freedom, and achieved it. They were able to free America, and it out
ways most of the pain they had to endure to achieve freedom. It is something they will tell their
children, and their grandchildren. That is a story that will be passed down from generation to
generation.
