KANGAR: Identical twins Anis Sofiah and Anis Solehah Zolkharnain were among 45

candidates in Perlis who scored straight As in the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah
(UPSR) examination this year. The sisters, from SK Tengku Budriah, said they spent
at least five hours a day studying together for the exam. "We always stick together.
We are very close. "Studying together really helped, as we can help and motivate
each other. It is definitely an advantage to be twins," said Anis Sofiah, who is the
elder sister. Anis Sofiah and Anis Solehah are no flashes in the pan, as they have
always placed first or second in their class in every year. Meanwhile, the state
Education Department director, Izmi Ismail, said only 45 candidates or 1.21 percent
out of 3,805 UPSR candidates in the state scored straight As this year. "The top ten
schools which recorded the highest percentage of passes among its pupils include
SK Seri Indera, SK Institut Pendidikan Guru Malaysia (IPGM) Perlis, SK Paya, SK Putra,
SK Sena, SK Behor Empiang, SJKC Chin Hun, SJKC Padang Besar (Utara), SK Stella
Maris and Sekolah Agama Al Islahiah. "SJKC Chin Hun, however, is the only school
that managed to achieve a 100 per cent pass in the examination. "We managed to
achieve a School Average Grade (GPS) of 3.09, compared to the National Average
Grade (GPN) of 2.96," he said.
