Calculate the voltage induced in each conductor. 13 Marks} Figure 1 (b) A conductor 3 m long carrying a current of 300 A is placed in a magnetic field whose density is 0.5 T as shown in Figure 2. Calculate the force on the conductor if it is perpendicular to the lines of force. (3 Marks} Figure 2 (©) A magnetic circuit with a single air gap is shown in Figure 3. At 60 Hy, its friction and windage losses are 24 kW, and its core losses are 18 KW. The field circuit has a de voltage of 200 V, and the maximum I is 10 A. The open-circuit characteristic of this motor is shown in Figure 4. Answer the following questions about the motor, assuming that it is being supplied by an infinite bus. (a) How much field current would be required to make this machine operate at unity power factor when supplying full load?
