To whom it may concern,
Letter of Reference for Liana Mustaip, 24.02.1993
It is my pleasure to recommend Liana Mustaip for admission to MSc Accounting,
Organisations and Institutions at London School of Economics and Political Science. I am a
lecturer and head of the Accounting Department of The Economics And Business Faculty at
Mataram University. Liana was one of my accounting students there; Liana is an excellent in
terms of academic and dedication to the society. Liana has discussed her further education
plans with me and has proven her motivation for the above mentioned programme.
I know Liana very well. I know her since 2011,sinceI have taught her in Management
Information Systems. In addition to this course, I have taught Liana's class inAccounting
Information Systems, Research Methods and Accounting Theory, which all have been
instructed in Indonesian. In all of these courses, according to formal rankings,Liana ranked
within the best 5% of the students in her class in terms of academic performance and
intellectual ability. In terms of these courses, she belongs to 5% of her academic performance
and intellectual ability. She got 'A' in Accounting Information Systems and Accounting
Theory courses which is one of the most difficult courses.
Liana's other grades can be seeninthe transcripts which Liana will submit. Our University
isgivingthese grades through letters and uses grade point average (GPA) as predicate. Also in
terms of capacity for original thinking, motivation for further study and written and oral
communication skillsLiana belongs to the best 5% of students in her class. I can say thisbased
on my experiences as her lecturer, but also as her supervisor on her Bachelor thesis Analysis
of IFRS Implementation on other comprehensive income items (case study in companies
listed in Indonesia stock exchange during 2012-2013).
As a supervisor, I can say that Liana is person who is willing to make great efforts and who
also dares to tackle difficult topics. When Liana was working on her thesis, she proposed that
sustainability report and other comprehensive incomes should be investigated, two topics that
are rarely brought up, but which are actually very important to be studied. Liana has proven
during her thesis work that she dares to pursuedifferent and far-sighted ideas. In her thesis,
Liana has shown excellent writing skills as well asgood analytical and quantitative skills and

she has demonstrated her ability to present complex issues in a logical and understandable
manner.
According to me Lianas academic background equips her very well to follow the programme
MSc Accounting, Organisations and Institutions. But also Lianas research work experience
contributes to her suitability for this programme. She worked as field researcher and as
assistant researcher for the Gender and Sexuality Study Centre of the Social and Political
Science Faculty at the University of Indonesia, a responsibility that is only given to people
with proven abilities.
Moreover, Liana has continued to actively spread her accounting knowledgeuntil now
through teaching, both senior high school and university students. During her studies, Liana
was one of the accounting mentors and represented the accounting department by providing
an understanding of accounting toher juniors. This has certainly helped Liana to keep her
knowledge of accounting up to date.
Relevant to this programme is also Lianasactual working-position, as advocacy programme
coordinator at the NGO IndonesianPlanned Parenthood Association of West Nusa Tenggara
chapter, where she could gain experiences and knowledge related to accounting of
organisations and institutions. Liana is a very ambitious, hard-working and reliable person
with a very kind and helpful personality. She has great interest in learning new things and is
continuously developing herself further, be it personal or professional. Her purposefulness
have always impressed me.
I would therefore strongly recommend Liana for the above programme of study. If her
performance in my class is a good indication of how she would perform as a graduate
student, she would be an extremely positive asset to your program.
If I can be of any further assistance, or provide you with any further information, please do
not hesitate to contact me.
Your sincerely,

Dr. M. Ali Fikri,S.E.,MSA.,Ak
