TASK:

1. In the course we have looked at a number of sources of information used by


investigators. Select two sources of information from the following: the public,
witnesses, suspects, informants and investigative interviews. Critically
discuss the value and limitations of these two sources of information to an
investigator. (About 900 words)
2. From the perspective of an investigator, critically evaluate the importance of
strategic alliances and interagency cooperation with two of the following:
the policing community, the intelligence community and the forensic
community. Explain the challenges posed by these relationships and consider
the value and limitations of such cooperation to individual
investigations. (About 1000 words)
Rationale:
This task encourages students to think critically about sources of information
that are utilised by investigators. Students are required to discuss the value and
limitations of these sources of information and to appreciate the importance of
information sources to successful investigations.
