We chose to research Daisy Bates because she made a great impact and she took a stand
for desegregating public schools. We were inspired by her courage and perseverance to make a
change for all blacks in America. The changes she made have allowed us to go to school in a
diverse and equal educational environment. We conducted our research through tertiary sources
such as ABC Clio and Gale Group. Secondary sources including JSTOR and many articles. As
well as images of Daisy Bates and letters addressed to and from Daisy Bates that were primary
sources. We created a website because we thought Daisy Bates impact could be interpreted and
displayed in the best way. The website was formed through Weebly and from there we organized
and formatted the website. Our project related to the National History Day theme of taking a
stand because Daisy Bates took a stand against the segregation of public schools. She never gave
up, and soon all students were granted equal educational rights. To this day, we still remember
her courageous efforts on how she took a stand against segregation of public schools.
