Bible Conditionals
Behold, if I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door.
[then] I will enter his house and dine with him, and him with me. Rev 3:20
The conditional of this verse is If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will
enter his house and dine with him, and him with me. This statement is true because the person
can hear the voice and open the door to dine. The converse of this verse is the switched version
of the conditional. If I enter his house and dine with him, and him with me, then anyone heard
my voice and opened the door. This is also true because if you are dining with someone at their
house, they heard your voice and welcomed you in. The inverse of this verse is If anyone did
not hear my voice and did not open the door, then I will not enter his house and dine with him,
and him with me. This is true because if your voice was not heard and you were not let in, you
cannot dine with the person. The contrapositive of the verse is the flipped version of the inverse.
If I do not enter his house and dine with him, and him with me, then anyone did not hear my
voice and did not open the door. This is also true because if you were not let in to dine with the
person, the person could not have heard your voice to open the door.
After seeing all four were true I noticed it could be written as a biconditional; when the
conditional and converse combined. The combined statement would be Anyone hears my voice
and opens the door if and only if I will enter his house and dine with him, and him with me.
